Funded by US Army

Sterilex founders funded by US Army to develop a universal decontamination technology for biological and chemical warfare agents. A talented research team developed a unique technology (PerQuat^®) designed to remove biofilms and kill resistant microorganisms in biofilm.

1991

NFPA Studies Show PerQuat Efficacy

First publication of studies conducted by the National Food Processing Association showing that the PerQuat chemistry was effective in killing Listeria in biofilm, and more effective than other routine sanitizers.

1995

Sterilex Incorporated in State of Maryland

Sterilex Corporation is incorporated in the State of Maryland with the mission of developing specialty antimicrobial products for markets where biofilm control is an important factor.

1999

Sterilex Receives EPA Registrations

Sterilex receives first group of EPA registrations for its powdered and liquid products.

2000

Sterilex Products Mandated For Use

Sterilex products mandated for use by one of largest global meat and poultry processing companies.

2001

Maryland Industrial Partnership Award

Sterilex receives Maryland Industrial Partnerships Award to establish the efficacy of PerQuat in removing biofilm in dental unit waterlines.

2005

EPA Registration with Biofilm Claims

Sterilex becomes the first company to receive EPA registration with biofilm claims for public health and industrial use sites.

2008

USDA National Research Initiative

Sterilex receives USDA National Research Initiative grant entitled “Improved Methods to Control Biofilms Containing Listeria monocytogenes in Meat and Poultry Processing Environments.”

2012

Sterilex establishes full distribution throughout North America for portfolio of products for food and beverage plant disinfection.

2015

Trademark and Regulatory Approval in Canada

Sterilex granted trademark and regulatory approvals in Canada.

Sterilex Sells Rights to Crosstex International

Sterilex sells the rights to Sterilex Liquid Ultra Solution 1 and Sterilex Liquid Ultra Solution 2 for dental unit waterline applications to Crosstex International.

2017

Sterilex Launches Indicon® Gel for Rapid Biofilm Detection

Indicon Gel is specifically designed to identify the presence of biofilm on a surface. When the product comes into contact with biofilm, the gel rapidly produces white micro-bubbles/foam within 2 minutes.
