About MEHA

The Missouri Environmental Health Association’s (MEHA) mission is to provide a forum for professional collaboration, education, and application of scientific principles related to environmental health practices.

MEHA is a unified professional organization dedicated to encourage and promote cooperation, good fellowship, intellectual and educational exchange; encourage the development of new technology; improve the sanitary quality of milk, food, institutional and environmental conditions; promote the public recognition of environmental professionals; and most importantly, to obtain the highest standard of health for every resident in the State of Missouri.

MEHA was founded in 1932 and was then known as the Missouri Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians. The name has changed several times, but the purpose of the association has not. In 1992 MEHA was incorporated as the Missouri Milk Food and Environmental Health Association. In 2018 Missouri Milk Food and Environmental Health Association merged with its sister organization the Missouri Environmental Health Association and is now the Missouri Environmental Health Association.

Significantly, MEHA is the state affiliate of both the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) and the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP).
